Description
“Taylor’s victory” (a variation of four patch) made up of eight small triangles around a 3 in. square surrounded by 16 triangles outside those. These blocks are connected diagonally by two of these 2 inch triangles mostly brown, with some green, blue, red and orange. Ref: The Romance Patchwork Quilt in America. Unique to Tennessee where the Taylor brothers, Alfred and Bob, of Jefferson City, campaigned for governor against each other in 1886. Bob won and served for three terms. Later in 1921, Alfred became governor. Two other such quilts have been found in Jonesborough. Made up of eight small triangles (each has four tiny triangles with a 2 inch side) around a square, surrounded by 16 triangles outside these. Seven stitches to the inch, no borders.
