Title

Chair-Arm-child's Ladderback

Description

This hickory and birch child's ladderback chair, circa 1800, was probably painted yellow or orange originally. It has one replaced arm, and the lowest of the three horizontal splats has been replaced. This is a better-than-average chair in that it has definite finials and elaborate turnings under the arms. It's pattern is so definite that, if local, other chairs could be recognized. Seat has been replaced. Good structural condition.
4/2023 brown ladder back chair with wicker seat (likely oak) chair wood unknown. 3 slats in back, 4 bottom rungs. middle slat has a scalloped shape on each side. seat maybe newer than chair. chair legs are turned. front legs are flattened on front side only.
