Description

This close stool chair is circa 1840-1850. the so called "Boston or Salem rocker" influenced this type of painted-black and -stenciled chair. The seat is of mixed hardwoods and poplar. The origin of this piece is unknown, but probably New England. Some of the chairs of this type and period are marked. This one is not.
