Description

This mule ear chair is circa 1850. It is an exceptional chair of this mule ear type in that it is a very early example of its type. The turned balls on all four feet, the rings at seat level on the rear posts, the shaped slats (3), and the thin back posts all indicate an early quality. The woods are birch and hickory with a new split oak seat. 4/2022: "C RC-21" in white on bottom of back bottom rung. Two rungs on each 4 sides. Straight back with 3 slats, no arms, woven seat. 6/2022: Mule ear chair 3 slats.
