Description

Compass variation circa pre-1850 this pattern, probably the quiltmaker’s own invention, is typical of the earliest pieced patterns based on simple geometric shapes. The fabrics are dyed brown, indigo and green, are early roller prints. The backing is made of a coarsely woven white cotton cloth. The quilting is intricate -typical of early 1800s
