Subject
Dining Table
Description
This dining table is mahogany and circa 1810-20 (1840) It is a sectional table of mahogany with tulip poplar as a secondary wood. The lower front of the apron is inlaid with a darker wood. The table has been rebuilt somewhat underneath, and some parts may not be old. Certainly the adjustment for extension is new. The origin of this table can not be determined, possibly Tennessee. This type of table was listed in the inventory of the last Mrs. Ramsey, Margaret Christian Cowan Humes Ramsey. Each banquet end has four turned legs terminating with a small ball foot. Center drop leaf table has 6 legs, the middle legs appear to be replacements. The table top has a band of reeding.
