Description

This bow-back Windsor chair is circa 1795-1810. this might be a Philadelphia chair. The chair was painted originally , but what is now on the chair is not old. The seat is white pine and one arm is birch and the other is oak. There is a saddle seat which contains old green paint with later decorations of what appears to be a cherub and a garland of flowers. This chair is somewhat county in style and with a turned stretchered base.
9/2022Identifier in white on seat bottom. Seat painted green with a faded floral design near back. 9 spindles in back, each extending completely through top, legs extend through seat.

9/2022 Condition Fair; green paint is chipped and faded. cracks in seat. legs are smooth and uniformly painted and appear to be new. Paint is bubbled and darkened on edge of seat. 4 spindles unfinished. bottom with a splotch of red paint; small hole in bottom with crumbling wood.
